1. Who We Are
The Chess Trainers & Instructors Association of Uganda (CTIAU) is the national body responsible for licensing, registering, and developing chess trainers and instructors across Uganda. Our registered address is Kampala, Uganda. You can contact us at hello@ctiau.org.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when you:
- Create an account (name, email address, authentication provider)
- Apply for membership (full name, phone number, district, region, national ID)
- Update your member profile (photo, bio, FIDE ID, FIDE title)
- Contact us through our contact form
We also collect limited technical data automatically, including your IP address and browser type, solely for security and service operation purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To process and manage your membership application and status
- To display your public profile in the CTIAU member directory
- To send service-related communications (membership approvals, renewals, notices)
- To verify your identity and prevent fraud
- To comply with our obligations under Ugandan law
4. Information We Share
We do not sell or rent your personal data. Your public profile information (name, photo, district, region, FIDE title, member tier) is visible to anyone who visits the CTIAU member directory. Sensitive information such as your national ID and phone number is never displayed publicly.
We may share data with trusted service providers (hosting, email delivery, authentication) solely to operate our platform. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
5. Google Sign-In
If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not receive your Google password. Your use of Google Sign-In is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account and membership data for as long as your account is active or as required to fulfil the purposes described in this policy. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us at hello@ctiau.org.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal obligations)
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
